FAQ
How do I know which course is right for me?
The entry criteria for each qualification is in the What to study area.
If you need any further assistance, please contact us and an ACM advisor will help you find the best option based on your qualifications
and experience.
How are courses taught?
Our courses are delivered through a combination of distance learning and face-to-face intensive study days. If studying a certificate level
qualification, however, there are no study days.
You receive all the distance-learning material on the first study day when you start a module. We then support you during
the distance learning through phone and email tutor support and online tutorials. You also have access to the online study portal,
which allows you to download additional learning materials such as video clips and case studies.
What happens on the study days?
Each study day runs from 9 am to 5 pm. They involve intensive immersion in the module, and are also an
opportunity to meet your tutor and fellow students. Some modules also include revision sessions.
Where are the study days held?
Study days are available in central Melbourne and Sydney.
Can I study through just distance learning?
Only the certificate level qualifications are available by purely distance learning.
Although we are in the process of developing a distance option for the remaining qualifications.
Currently, the Professional Diploma and Postgraduate Diploma require you to attend eight face-to-face study days over the course of eleven months.
How many hours will I need to study?
Each module requires either 40 or 50 hours study. Your correspondence study material will say whether you need to set
aside three, four or five hours a week. There is also some flexibility built into the programs. So, if you fall behind because of work or
other commitments, there are study breaks that will allow you to catch up.
How long does a qualification take?
All the qualifications (except the Introductory Certificate) take eleven months part-time. The Chartered element of the
Postgraduate Diploma takes between six and twelve months depending on your commitment to study and your workload.
Can I get a visa to study in Australia with the CIM?
